MLCommons® Appoints New Board Members for 2021
The global engineering consortium expands its commitment to accelerate innovation in machine learning to benefit everyone with the addition of three new board members
SAN FRANCISCO - June 7, 2021 -- MLCommons, an open engineering consortium, announced today it has appointed three new members to its 2021 board of directors: Jon Khazam, EVP Strategy & Business Development at Graphcore, Peter Baldwin, Founder of Myrtle.ai, and James Goel, Director of Technical Standards at Qualcomm. Additionally, Aditya Yanamandra, Principal Engineer, Machine Learning Architecture will replace Christine Cheng as a representative of Intel Corporation. These new board members will support the mission of MLCommons to deliver industry-wide benchmarks, best practices and datasets that improve computer vision, natural language processing, and speech recognition development for everyone.

These new board members bring a wealth of experience to MLCommons, including:
Jon Khazam is Executive Vice President of Strategy & Business Development at Graphcore, a UK-based AI processor company building a new generation of AI systems. Jon will join the MLCommons board as the EMEA seat and Treasurer, bringing more than 13 years of board experience, including five years as a founding director of the Eclipse Foundation. Prior to Graphcore, Jon spent 25 years at Intel, where he led global teams in both hardware and software.
Peter Baldwin is the Founder of Myrtle.ai, a company focused on hardware-software co-design for efficient machine learning inference and other data-center workloads. Peter will fill the small company seat on the MLCommons board. Prior to Myrtle.ai, Peter founded a software company and was Senior Technical Director at several multinational visual effects companies. Peter holds a doctorate in mathematics from Cambridge, UK.
James Goel is Director of Technical Standards at Qualcomm. James will fill a general seat on MLCommons Board. He is also on the board of the Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA) and is the chair of the MIPI Alliance Technical Steering Group. Previously, James was the Senior Director of Video Engineering at Integrated Device Technology Inc. and has experience as an early member of three semiconductor startups.
Aditya Yanamandra is a Principal Engineer at Intel Corporation and will fill a general seat on MLCommons Board. He leads the Machine Learning Architecture team focused on DL algorithmic performance analysis, distributed systems and system level performance for Intel’s CPU and GPU architectures across data center and client markets. Prior to his current role, Aditya was a technical lead in 3D graphics architecture definition and pre-silicon driver development.

These new members will be the first additions to join the MLCommons founding board, which also includes representatives from Alibaba, Facebook AI, Google, and NVIDIA, as well as Professor Vijay Janapa Reddi of Harvard University; and a broad range of more than 50 founding members.
